Hi! I’m Katy, owner of Nomadic Attic Vintage. I’ve been obsessed with thrifting since I can remember. As a teenager in the early nineties, I’d spend my weekends at Sharky’s Thrift on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, California where I could fill an entire bag with flannels, perfectly worn-in thermals, and silk Indian print dresses for less than $ bucks. I’d buy some Nag Champa incense from a street vendor for a dollar and then head to Crossroads to grab something polyester. Sometimes I would hit up Haight Street in SF in the same day where I would get lost in the discarded relics from the Beatniks and bohemians of the 50s, the hippies of the 60s, or the hip cats of the seventies. Those glory days of thrifting were overwhelming in the best way. I took my quest for style and originality very seriously. I loved the thrill of finding that weird funky stuff that no one else had! My efforts didn’t go unnoticed and I earned a place on the style page of my high school yearbook freshman year. Something I undoubtedly thought was silly then, but makes me smile today as I write this. Even with the ease of Ebay and other used goods sites, I still very much enjoy the treasure hunt that is true thrifting so I continue to scour thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales seeking the last of the vintage gold to share with you - my fellow vintage enthusiasts and vibe creators!
